Musiq News
12/18/2008...My two Cents!
So by now many of you have heard some word about Musiq's new album, "OnMyRadio". Atleast I hope so. Well I've read some
mixed reviews. Some love it, some hate it and a good amount think Mr. Soulchild is just playing it safe. Well here's my two
cents on the crooners fifth album.
"OnMyRadio" in my opinion delivers just what you expect from a skilled and seasoned artist such as Musiq Soulchild. The
first single off the album, "Radio" sent a few fans, including myself into a talespin thinking the Soulstar went CrunkStar.
However it took only some getting used to and seeing it performed live to say, this isn't so bad afterall. I mean his name
is Musiq so one has to expect him to branch out every once and again. The 2nd official single from the album which features
Mary J. Blige, "Ifuleave" also received mixed reviews. while almost everyone loved the song a few critics sited that it sounded
a little too familiar, comparing it to last year's " Teachme". But ladies and gentlmen when you go out and purchase the album
you get what expect and a little more. The Philly Soul comes out on my favorite track, "Until". Until starts with the haunting
sound of a woman and then the bass takes us into a song filled with infinite love. And while some of you make think Musiq
perfected the ballad when he wrote "Love", he really shows you what he is made of on "Deserveumore" where Musiq pleads to
the love of his life. Need something to dance to? Don't worry Musiq covered all bases from Mid-tempo to Up-tempo on "Special",
"Iwannabe" and what I think should be the third single, "Moneyright". And last but not least is the unofficial 3rd single
which has been getting moderate airplay in select cities, "Sobeautiful" which not only encompasses everything a woman wants
to hear but everything a woman should hear.
While he may have switched it up a bit when he released "Radio" as the first single and maybe even played it safe on
one or two songs overall I think the album was a fusion of phenomenal writing and production. I would have to give it 4 out
of 5 stars. Maybe I'm a little bias but in all respect I did give him the "no no" on "Radio" but overall I think the album
was put together very well. Great job Mr. Johnson:)
12/09/2008...OnMyRadio is on your radio!

be performing. Tickets are still on sale and can be purchased at the door beginning at 8pm. For my Philly folks Musiq will

copy today and a few for friends and family.Peace.
10/03/2008...."If U Leave"
With the release of what I consider the hottest video I have seen in a decade, "Radio". Musiq is back on the set and
this time with the Queen herself, Mary J. Blige. Musiq is currently wrapping up the the video shoot for "If U Leave", the
second single from his fifth album "On My Radio" scheduled for a December release. The smooth ballad with a familiar sound
(2007's "Teach Me") features Blige and is already recieving moderate airplay.
07/03/2008.....Put it on my Radio!
Musiq is back and this time around he starts out a little different. With leading singles like, "Sunny (Just Friends)",
"Half Crazy", "Forthenite" and "Buddy" paving the way for his last four albums, we kind of know what to expect when Mr. Soulchild
says a new album is on the way. Well this time he switched it and threw us all off track with the leading single from his
yet to be titled 5th Album, "Radio". Recently transplanting to Atlanta, GA, Musiq seems to have settled right in and picked
up on "what's hot". The fast-tempo, finger snapping, tweeter busting "Radio" is the last thing loyal, long-time fans of the
Soulstar expected. And while most were quick to dismiss the song as a desperate attempt to fit in with what's popular in 2008,
some applaud the singer for stepping outside of his comfort zone to try something new. Even loyal fans like myself have stated
it will have to grow on them. And while it has grown on me, mainly because of how good it sounds in the car, I am not
expecting the entire album to follow suit. Musiq recently interviewed with local radio stations and before questions can even
come about he explained that he was just trying something different, experimenting with different sounds and that fans should
not expect this from the entire album. Hint: When you have to explain why someone should accept your music, it probably wasn't
the best song to lead with. Only kidding, I have nothing but love for Musiq. Nevertheless, his name is Musiq for a reason.
And I doubt this will be the last time we are shocked by Musiq Soulchild. Shock afterall is the best way to keep it fresh.
And the attention he's recieving from Radio, well people are talking. And when you have a album on the way. You want to keep
em talking.
Sporting a new look, the oh so common Mohawkish hair cut Musiq is now preparing for spot dates ascross the country. After
wrapping up his summer tour with Lady Chaka Khan Musiq will spend his birthday on the West Coast this year in sunny California
with back to back shows in Anaheim, LA and San Francisco. Keep your eyes open for more tour dates and look out for the video
for "Radio" to appear on your TV screen soon!
03/11/2008.....Meet the Brown's Soundtrack!
Tyler Perry does it again. A stellar movie with a stellar soundtrack to go along with it. On March 18th the Soundtrack

of "Everyday People" by Musiq Soulchild ft. Estelle. Other artist to grace the album are Coko, Case, Ledisi, Brandy, Jill

Amazon.com.
03/21/2007....LuvanMusiq is #1!
As if it was even a question, LuvanMusiq debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. According to Nelisen Soundscan Musiq's fourth
album sold 149,000 copies in it's first week beating out Lloyd who came in at the #2 spot with 144,000 copies. With a hot
single (B.u.d.d.y) getting extensive airplay and a second "Teachme" on the way the sales will continue to rise to the
top. Something tells me Musiq will finally get that Grammy this go around. Always good to be nominated but I think his fans
would like to see him go home with one and we all know it's well deserved. Peace-jm

11/20/2006..."Buddy"
As you may know by know Musiq has released the first single from his fourth album "LuvanMusiq" due out in Spring
of 2007. The single "Buddy" was premiered here in Philadelphia on 11/15/2006 on Philly's own 100.3 The Beat during the
Moonie, Pooche and Lyiah Morning Show. "Buddy" is fun and energetic song with the familiar feel of "Sunny (Just Friends) from
his debut album and "Forthenite" from his third album combined. It speaks of a mutual beneficial relationship between two
people with a throwback vibe.
So if you like what you hear and I know you do, call up local radio station and request "Buddy". For those of you in
the NYC area you can catch a live performance of "Buddy" when Musiq performs at the SOB's New York next week on 11/28, 11/29,
11/30. See you there!
09/13/2006....Album Push Back!
The long awaited album that all Musiq fans have been waiting for has been pushed once again. The new release date is
now set for early 2007. Meanwhile Musiq has surfaced as guest apperances such as Black Ice's new CD which was released
last week. And if that's not enough you can catch Musiq at this years Black Lily party here in Center City Philadelphia, next
week 09/19/2006. The semi concert hosted by Kindred Family Soul will feature artist like Musiq, Floetry, Jazzefantesees, Bilal,
Jaguar, The Roots and of course Kindred Family Soul. That's all the Musiq news I have for now. Peace.
07/05/2006.....Where's The New Album!
That's what all the fuss has been about lately. Well if you are hip to the new Myspace era you already know the scoop.
Poor Musiq recently posted that the album has been delayed yet again for a garden variety of reasons. Among them are legal
and monetary reasons(no he's not broke). The Soul Singer does predict the album should be ready for release by November, exaclty
a year from the original release date of 11/2005.
Musiq states that he has recorded quite a bit of songs for this project but will need to pick the best ones out of his
seventy something tracks for his new release. The singer also went into detail as far as needing to have to the CD mixed,
promos, photoshoots and a single to be set up.
His hopes(and mines:)- A single on the radio by September, Spot Dates by October and ding, ding, ding, an album by November
just in time for the holidays. So I'm sure he appreciates, at least he better all of our patience and we'll just have to wait
and see what happens.
04/25/2006....It's okay!
The Michael Jordan classic Black and White game was held this past Saturday in New York City and guess who
sang the National Anthem. That's right the one and only Musiq or as the announcer stated, "Atlantic Recording artist, Musiq
Soulchild!. That's right the talk of the town was how Philly Artist Musiq Souchild sang the National Anthem so beautifully
but then but forgot the words!
A stuned audience was reduced to laughter and boos but of course they neglected to show how Musiq wonderfully pulled
it together and won the crowd over with his amazing vocals. I beleive it was the late great Aaliyah who said, "Dust yourself
off and try again". That's exactly what he did. People tend to forget artist are human beings just like us and hell, I don't
know all the words myself. So props to Musiq for continuing and doing a great job....Love, love:)
Alright peeps that's all I got for yall today. Keep it locked for more. Peace-jazz
02/17/2006....Atlantic Records!!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen I heard the rumors but I had to wait to make sure all was right before putting it out there.
Well it looks like it's so long Island Def Jam/Def Soul and welcome to the wonderul world of the country's largest, longest
running and most succesful labels, Atlantic Records! Atlantic has yet to add Musiq to the roster but with everything already
in place it looks like Musiq's fourth album will released under Atlantic records but not soley. Musiq will join others like
Brandy, T.I., Sean Paul,Fabolous, Lil Kim, Trey Songz, Aaries and Tweet among other great artist.
Once again the album release date has changed and upgraded from a fall 2006 release to a possible Summer 2006 Release.
I warned you all that the release would be unpredictable but that's all good because it just makes it more exciting when it
does come out. That's all for now...keep your eyes and ears open!

10/2005......Musiq in Atlantic City!
Musiq made his way close to home, performing at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The artist managed to
put on a near flawless performance, forgetting a few words hear and there, even though several fights broke out during the
show. This was the longest set I've seen him do in years and it was well worth the money.
His opening act Keyshia Cole even came back to do an impromtu performance of Musiq's "Marygoround" that had the crowd
choosing sides. A ending no one expected but was more than anyone could ask for. For now the tour is over but no doubt he
will do more spot dates. Peace-jazz
